Primus Partners India organised the insightful roundtable discussion on "Strengthening India’s Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) in the Digital Economy Consumption Ecosystem". The discussion, segregated into two sessions, centred on understanding the nuances of ODR in India’s growing digital consumption landscape.
The keynote address was delivered by Shri Rohit Kumar Singh, Hon'ble Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, which set the stage with pertinent insights and government’s current focus around ODR. The session entailed engaging and detailed discussions moderated by Dr. Srinath Sridharan and Dr Navneet Sharma (CUTS Institute for Regulation and Competition (CIRC)) respectively, touching upon the status and recent developments around ODR, the opportunities and challenges, the technological requisites and the way forward for ODR in India pertaining to consumers of digital economy. Hon'ble Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal, President of Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, graced the occasion, offering her valuable perspectives, further enriching the discourse. Retd. Secretary of Law and Justice, and Former Secretary General, International Centre for Alternate Dispute Resolution, Shri P K Malhotra also shared his experiences and suggestions on the subject matter.
The sessions brought together a diverse group of industry stakeholders, from e-commerce giants to online gaming platforms, ADR and ODR experts, legal luminaries, academicians, public policy professionals, third-party mediators, and civil society consumer groups.
