Premium bike sales defy GST hike, register 4% growth
20-11-2025
Anurag Singh, Advisor, Primus Partners, highlights that motorcycles above 350 cc form just 1% of total sales and, despite higher GST dampening November volumes, demand remains resilient due to lower price sensitivity among buyers. However, widening price gaps between 350 cc and 450 cc models may challenge justification without clear differentiation. In contrast, motorcycles below 350 cc benefited from an 18% GST, driving overall industry growth, with strong demand in the 150–200 cc and 250–350 cc segments reflecting consumer preference for affordable, higher-powered bikes.
