Primus Partners, Report warns that by 2030, more than 23.5 million Indians—predominantly under the age of 35—are expected to be engaged in gig work, up from 7.7 million in 2021. While the sector has expanded rapidly, the study cautions that its current structure could create a “missing middle” in India’s labour market, with workers driving consumption and urban services but remaining excluded from income mobility, social security, and formal career progression.
