Govt, auto majors differ over use of ethanol-blended petrol

Anurag Singh, Advisor, Primus Partners,highlights that E20 ethanol fuel may inflict significant damage on vehicles not engineered for its use. Ethanol’s hygroscopic nature leads to corrosion of metallic components and deterioration of rubber and plastic parts. He further emphasizes that, in the absence of appropriate engine calibration, ethanol fuel can result in suboptimal combustion, engine knocking, diminished performance, and challenges during cold starts.
