Our headline this week features Sri Lanka’s role in hosting the Council of Ministers Meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) on October 11 in its capital, Colombo. This key event brings together leaders from 16 of its 23 member countries and 10 dialogue partners, including India's External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar. The meeting focused on regional cooperation in areas such as trade, maritime security, fisheries management, disaster risk management, and the blue economy. 

Sri Lanka, taking the IORA chairmanship from 2023-2025, underscores its dedication to enhancing regional ties and addressing challenges through diplomacy.  This event is a testament to the collective effort and diversity of IORA's membership, with foreign ministers from Bangladesh, Iran, Mauritius, Malaysia, South Africa, and India coming together.
