The Government of India aimed to optimize coal evacuation and transportation infrastructure in coal-bearing regions. The project focused on improving the existing evacuation network through a multi-modal logistics framework, with particular emphasis on enhancing railway-based solutions.
Primus Partners was appointed to support in development of multi-modal logistics framework with an emphasis on railway-based solutions. The team monitored the activities of Coal India Limited (CIL) and its subsidiaries to ensure compliance with Ministry guidelines. They reviewed and provided input on the Multi-modal Network Optimization Plan, recommending enhancements to existing rail infrastructure, such as Merry-Go-Round systems and coal transit hubs, to streamline transportation, reduce delays, and minimize environmental impacts. Additionally, strategies for medium- and long-term rail connectivity improvements were proposed, integrating these with other transport modes. A Smart Coal Logistics Plan was also developed, utilizing digital tools to monitor and improve coal transport efficiency via railways.
We successfully optimized the coal evacuation process, enhancing the efficiency of the transportation infrastructure while ensuring compliance and sustainability in coal logistics across India.
