Cooperatives in India | A 56 Million Self-Employment Opportunity by 2030

Cooperatives have the potential to create up to 55 million direct jobs and 56 million self-employment-opportunities by 2030. For this to happen, first of all, certain challenges need to be addressed on priority. We have identified five such challenges – capacity, branding and ambition, technology and market access, financing and lastly, governance and regulatory challenges. We recommend setting up a National Cooperative Mission and a common logo for cooperatives-driven products. Additionally, our recommendation highlights the RBI oversight in addressing grievances.
