The Future Finance Office event, organised by BW Businessworld, at Amritsar. It brought together 70+ CFOs from across different industries. There was a good discussion on how the CFO role is evolving, how AI is impacting all businesses and functions, including Finance department. There was deliberation on what skills would continue to be important for CFOs, especially as they aspire for their next levels – i.e. COE role. One skill-set which was repeatedly brought up was “storytelling”. How well CFOs can build a narrative will be as critical (if not more) as their ability to handle financial data, complexities and nuances.
The event was also special in the sense that it felt more an informal gathering of like-minded-professionals, who ate together, prayed together, and had fun together. People paid a visit to the Golden Temple, and also took out time to shop in the city. Very special bonds were built, and this cohort is bound to collaborate in the coming days.
